Several years ago we did a full home remodel. Some how I have lost many of the pictures of this remodel. I still have in perfect condition the 8mm video we took (from a regular video camera). I would really like to take from the 8mm video still images. Then print images (pictures). We have Pinnacle studio/studio plus on our computer and have followed all the directions but i am unable to capture the video. What am I doing wrong? Do you know an easier better way to accomplish this?
Dfirefox that dosen’t answer my question as I CANNOT capture the video on my computer. Thanks anyways…
Wurm…getting more helpful. Perhaps this task is a little too complex for me. Thank you for your time.
Steve P, thanks but I’ve already tried that!
Thanks Dave…but no thanks.

press pause on the camcorder until the frame looks good and then save it and/or print it .

I also have Pinnacle and an 8mm, but it’s a digital camera so I capture through the firewire port. You have to go in from the Video Input on your video card iirc (assuming your card has this)

Wow, I just checked out the directions. Not looking so good. Does this camera have USB out? If you have a tuner card you can input through that. Have you ever used this software before?

You may wish to try and see if a national chain like Ritz/Wolf Camera can do anything about it. If they can’t, you’ll probably have to go to a professional that deals with 8 mm video being put onto a disc.

Even if you are able to capture the footage on your computer the still is going to be very poor quality , you cannot obtain good pictures from this format.
