The house had cost $138,000 in 2005. The current owner has remodeled everything – tiles, carpets, driveway, plumbing, appliances…How much do you consider would it have cost him?

It sounds like you don’t feel the owner is justified in their asking price to sell the place, even though they have told you they have completely remodeled.

It is going to be hard to estimate a cost for these because I don’t know the quality of materials that were used. I recently redid carpet, kitchen flooring, paint and applicances, along with outside work for less than $10,000 for a similar sized house.

But I can tell you that I could have spent many times that and probably would have if I were going to live in the place. You don’t indicate whether the kitchen had new formica counters like I put in or if they were corian, a material that costs substantially more.

Same goes for the fixtures for bathroom and celing fans. You can get those very cheap or very, very expensive.

So, without further info, I can only tell you what I spend.

    Hope that helps.

10k-15k. Depending on the appliances (stainless steel etc) and how many cabinets he replaced.

I live in West Virginia, where things are considerabley less expensive, and I think it would cost at least $50,000 to do everything. Plumbing is very expensive to re-do. Driveways, carpets, and tiles are quite a bit. I’m assuming she’s installing new windows, new kitchen cabinets & all. If so, minimum $50,000 and easily upwards of $100,000. To completely renovate a kitchen is at least $20.000. Of couse, these figures come from hiring contractors to do the work for you. If you do it yourself, much, much less.

I agree with the first answer. I was looking for the answer because one of my clients found a 1400sqft house that needed to be remodeled. Using Cheap materials, we estimated the entire project to cost 12k.
