I would wait till my husband got home. You may have a lot more work in that ceiling than you think. I would wait. In the meantime I would get some fantastic fabric tie the whole thing in the center and spread it out to cover ceiling. It would look like the inside of a circus tent. I would make a "U" shaped box out of foam core boards ($2 for 36" sq. at craft stores). It would be light enough to stick up with velcro. Also, if you are exposing the ceiling and it is regular wood, then use 1/4" plywood and cut it so the bottom showing down covers the edges of the 2 side pieces. That would look better.
