Is a real estate agent held accountable if he or she sells a home cantaining Asbestos?

We were doing remodeling in our home wich is over 100 years old. The house was bought in 1987 by us. Shouldnt the house have been checked by the real estate company or agent before putting it on the market?

No the real estate agent would have been responsible to tell you if he knew about it. But he has no responsibility to inspect the home. Its a buyer beware transaction
No. If you hired an inspector, the inspector MAY be liable. If you didn’t, it MAY be your problem.
No its up to the buyer to have it checked out. “let the buyer beware”. On the other hand if the agent knew that it had asbestos and still didn’t tell you then you have a valid case against them.
Most states have disclosure laws which may have been in effect in 1987, but maybe not where you live.
Irrespective, you probably had a home inspection as part of your loan deal. If your inspector missed it, your cause of action is against him, not the agent.
In any event, the statute of limitations has long passed you by here. It’s contractual, not tort law, that applies.
Although slomo is correct, the statute of limitations for disclosure has long ago passed in all 50 states. You have no cause of action.
