We have a wall behind our couch that is almost the length of the couch. I have been stumped as to what to put there and don’t have much of a budget for artwork. Any ideas? The wall is about 4 feet long between a window and the door.

There are lots of ways to create inexpensive artwork for your walls. Find some beautiful fabrics and frame pieces in different sizes to create
a “mural”. Look for an artpiece of interesting scrollwork, copy it and make a transparency. Put the transparency on a rented overhead projector and project it onto the wall. Trace around the scrollwork and then paint it on the wall. Go to a fabric store and find a piece of fabric in a heavy tapestry. Cut it to size, hem it leaving an space at top to put a decorative rod through. Find a beautiful rod and finials and hang the “tapestry”. Create areas of interest by buying inexpensive molding frames at your hardware store. Bolt them to the wall in squares or rectangles. Hang artwork in each or paint the insides fun complementary colors. Instant art. There are lots of things you can do.

Buy one or two large canvasses for art paintings at your local craft store. Make a template out of paper of for an ex. a bamboo plant. Place over the canvass and spray any color with spray paint that goes with your decor, and hang.
