		<description>You need to have a structural engineer look at your house to determine if raising the ceiling height is possible.

It may also be possible for you to file for a variance and/or exception, but without knowing where you are &amp; without being able to look at the structure, all you are going to get is guess answers.

		<description>Dude, I think your screwed if you have all the work done on the ceiling alreardy.  If you are referring to your top floor like I think you are, The trusses will have to go up to raise the ceiling. Unless you rig some way to jack up the trussed at their support and build the taller wall under them, they will more than likely need to come off and start again. The ceiling sheetrock will more than likely get destroyed regardless of how you do it.  If a contractor did the work, he/she is responsible to build to code (local and national).  If you did the work, Dude, your screwed.</description>
